Mission

On Behalf of a Grateful Nation, Inc., was founded in 2006 by four veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom with one aim - to offer a way for Americans to show their support and appreciation for the families of military service members killed in support of the war on terror, and for those who were seriously injured fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While our organization is dedicated to charitable purposes, it isn't a “charity for charity's sake." The four members of the board of directors are all combat veterans who have seen firsthand the devastating effects that war has on America's military service members and their families.

While we look to raise funds for those experiencing a financial crisis, we also wanted to offer a way for everyday Americans to thank veterans who were wounded in their service, as well as the thousands of families around the nation that are coping with the loss of a loved one killed in combat.

Our organization's primary focus is raising money to lend a hand to military families in financial need due to a death or injury. On Behalf's Priority Fund accepts cash contributions and serves as a pool of emergency funds available to those who may be experiencing a financial crisis. And while we encourage those in need to apply directly, we also accept grant requests made on their behalf by a concerned family member or friend.

We also offer Americans a more personal way to thank those who've given so much. The Grateful Nation Network is a “bank” of items and services available to our injured veterans nationwide and the families of those killed—the first of its kind sponsored by a non-profit organization. If you're a business owner who would like to give a gift of a discounted or complimentary product or service, or if you're someone who'd like to donate an item, you can do so by visiting the Grateful Nation Network page and filling out a brief form. Our staff will make sure that your contribution will be delivered to an eligible veteran or family in your area.

We realize that there are literally hundreds of non-profits in the United States that look to offer the same services to our veterans, and we're thrilled that you've considered On Behalf of a Grateful Nation.

Because our board of directors and volunteers are not compensated for their work, nearly 100% of funds donated to On Behalf of a Grateful Nation are matched with those we look to assist. In addition, much of the services that help keep our organization going (i.e. Web site maintenance) are offered at either deep discounts or entirely free of charge by those who support our mission and values.
